RuneScape: Dragonwilds on Steam: Controller and Steam Deck Status
What the Steam store page confirms, how far controller support actually goes, and what can and cannot be said about playing it on a Steam Deck.
If you are buying on Steam, these are the things the store page already states, so you do not have to guess.
What the Steam store page confirms
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Release | 15 September 2026 (1.0) |
| Price | $29.99 |
| OS | Windows only |
| Storage | 25 GB |
| Controller | Partial controller support, with Xbox controllers listed |
| Account | Requires a third-party account: Epic Online Services, which can link to Steam |
| Extras | Steam Cloud, Family Sharing |
Two things are easy to miss. Partial controller support is not full support, and it is not the same as the native controller handling on console. And you need an Epic Online Services account link, so leave time for that before your first launch.
There is no Steam Deck rating yet
The store page carries no Steam Deck compatibility rating. Not Verified, not Playable. Nothing.
That means “can I play it on a Deck?” can only be answered by community reports:
- Some players say it runs with the Deck’s built-in control set.
- Others report real problems, such as needing to restart the game several times in one session when docked to a TV without a keyboard.
- An early hands-on video is titled, bluntly, “Not a Great Start”.
So the honest answer is: it runs, but nothing is promised and the experience is not stable. If the Deck is your main way to play, watch recent hands-on footage rather than trusting “it launches”.
What controller players should check
The 1.0 update changed the layout: the primary attack on a controller is now R1 / RB / R, and special attacks moved to R2 / RT / ZR. The skill wheel has four hotkeys, and you can reorder spells in the spellbook to match your habits.
If you mainly play with a controller, confirm two things before buying:
- whether “partial controller support” covers your controller model;
- whether you accept “partial” as the premise, rather than expecting the console experience.
What to check before you buy
- Regional price. This page only quotes the official USD figure. Other currencies come from your store.
- OS and storage. Windows 10 and 25 GB. There is no official Mac or Linux build.
- Third-party account. Finish the Epic Online Services link first.
- Controller expectations. For a fully native controller experience, console is the safer pick. See the platform table.
